Discover the books real business people read

At last! A guide to business reading by business people for business people.

Business books are plentiful, well written ones are not rare - but the ones that give you valuable information and are sources of help, stimulating thought and valuable advice are few and far between.

So, with all this choice, how do you find the right one? - You need a well informed 'friend'.

Several times people have asked me about the business books I have read and recommend. Books for guidance, help and advice; books that are thought provoking, books with business stories from which we can learn (and sometimes be entertained as well).

I know the ones I like. But, I thought, I'm sure others have their own opinions.

So I've asked several successful business people that I know for their favorites. It made a surprising and interesting list.

Some well known authors made their appearance, Charles Handy (twice), Kenneth Blanchard, Cyril Parkinson, Laurence Peter, Rob Parsons and the irreverent Scott Adams along with others that are much lesser known, Ricardo Semler, Elaine Beich, Jeffrey Gitomer and Claude Hopkins. Maybe you will get to know them better!

Many recommended books were on Business Policy and Business Strategy, as suits senior executives, some were filled with more practical, down to earth advice covering areas such as sales (three entries), manufacturing, project management, working with and getting the best from people, self development and consulting- all essential in today's fast moving world. Yet others are just a good read - with a few lessons thrown in, and one about finding a new boss!

Here is the current list of the top 40 books, with an acknowledgement to each of the main contributors.

Now I do not know about you, but I find that it often takes me a long time to get round to buying a recommended book. Largely this is because I jot down the name and then it takes a long time before I get to a bookshop with the note to hand. Think of all that lost opportuntiy time!

So I've solved that one for you. Just click on the convenient link to Amazon.com that is with each book so you can purchase them right now directly on line. Don't delay, get your hands on the book that will help you to move forward straight away.
